Filtration

Pressurized vs. Suction

Emerald Spas, including the elegant Cygnus Series, feature a patented shell integrated pressurized filter design.  The filters are integrated into the design of the shell to ensure that the maximum space is
available for seating.  Here are some good reasons you'll love the Emerald Spas Filtration System.

  • Pressurized filtration systems are recognized in the pool industry as the most effective filtration system. You seldom find swimming pools that use suction-side filtration systems. In addition, every Department of Health nationwide will only allow pressurized filtration systems in any commerical application.

  • A pressurized filtration system is more expensive to manufacture and is a higher quality system.  Some manufacturers cut costs by using suction side filtration systems.

  • Pressurized Filtration Systems allow for better hydraulic efficiency. Water bypasses the filter while the jets are on high to provide vigorous, consistent hydrotherapy. The most important time for your spa to filter is after you get out!

  • Pressurized filtration systems are more sanitary. If you can see the filter in the spa, like in a suction-side filtration system, the hands of small children can touch the debris, body oils, and bacteria that are caught by the filter -- little hands go into little mouths. Pressurized filters are  located in a canister that is inaccessible to little hands but still easily accessible for maintenance.

  • Pressurized filtration systems capture debris and keep it contained when removing the filters for cleaning and does not allow it to re-enter the main body of water. When a suction-side filter is removed from it's compartment, the debris that rinses off while removing the filter returns to the main body of water.

  • Pressurized filtration systems will save you money when replacing the filters because it requires 60% - 70% less square footage of filter media to do the equivalent job of a suction-side filter system. This means suction filters will cost you $65 - $150 to replace versus $30 - $45 to replace most filters for pressurized systems.

  • The integrated shell design of Emeralds Filtration System is more aesthetically pleasing.  You’re not sitting in your spa staring at your filters as you might in a spa equipped with a suction-side filtration system.

  • Emerald's Filtration System allows more sitting room in your spa. Suction-side filtration systems are very large and usually take up an entire seat in the spa!

  • An automatic Bromine Dispenser is built into the filter which ensures consistent sanitizer levels.

  • Most importantly Emerald Spas filtration does a better job of cleaning the spa water. This, in conjunction with the automatic clean up cycles programmed into the control system ensures sparkling clear water!
